ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Dr. Gina Wilson Beckles is a grants and government contracting consultant on Florida’s Space Coast.  She has worked in the areas of federal grants and contracts for over 30 years.  Born and raised in Titusville, Florida, Dr. Beckles spent 25 years working as a professor at Bethune-Cookman University.  During her tenure, she served as Department Chair over the Business Administration area, as well as teaching various courses in Business Management and Business Research.

She has also held positions with the Federal Reserve Bank (Miami Branch), Eastern Florida State College (formerly Brevard Community College), and City Gas Company of Florida.  She holds a Ph.D. in Public Affairs and an MBA in Business Administration, both from University of Central Florida.  Additionally, she holds a BS in Business Administration and Agricultural Sciences from Florida A&M University.

Dr. Beckles is an active member of her community and serves on several boards.  First, she serves on the Board of Adjustments and Appeals for the City of Titusville.  Second, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Henegar Performing Arts Center in Melbourne, Florida.  Third, she serves on the Board of Directors for North Brevard Charities Sharing Center, the largest non-profit organization in North Brevard County.  She is a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Titusville, Florida.  Her favorite activity, though, is line dancing.

Dr. Beckles and her husband, Roland have been married for 35 years.  They have two sons, Xavier and Malachi.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Francina Dubose Brooks is a Nonprofit Management Consultant with 20 years of experience in the nonprofit field. Francina is enthusiastic about serving the community and helping others and has provided many hours of pro bono services to the nonprofit community.

Francina earned her Bachelor of Science degree and her Master of Nonprofit Management degree from UCF.  Francina is also a founding member of the UCF Collegiate Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, 2006. Francina also served as a grant application reviewer with United Way Heart of Florida and has a thorough understanding of what funders are looking for in grant applications.

Francina joined the Grant Professionals Network (GPN) in 2008 and served on the GPN board as a member and secretary, 2009-2011. In 2009, GPN selected Francina to receive the Up-and-Coming Award, and in 2010, GPN awarded Francina the Outstanding Service Award. In 2019, she became a certified grant writer through the American Grant Writing Association. Additionally, in 2019, Francina became a lifetime member of Urban Awareness USA (UA).

And lastly, but not least, Francina is the mother of four: Brian Dubose, Willie Dubose, Andreus Dubose, and Micah Dubose, and the proud grandmother of six: O’Marii Dubose, Mya Dubose, Micah Dubose Jr., Amarah Dubose, Ayra Dubose, and Ivy Dubose.
